Looking Back to Go Forward: PennyFix Grants by State (Part 1)
Number of grants awarded by state
As we step into a brand new year, we’re taking a moment to look back at what we’ve already done—because progress matters, and so does celebrating the people doing the work on the ground.
PennyFix exists to support spay/neuter efforts through a sustainable, practical funding model. And at the heart of that mission are the rescues, shelters, clinics, and community teams showing up every day for dogs and cats.
To make it easy to find local impact, we’re sharing our grant recipients by state. This week is Part 1 (A–M). Next week, we’ll publish Part 2 (N–W, plus DC and Puerto Rico).
As you scroll, you’ll notice two things right away:
1) A few states aren’t on the list yet.
At the moment, we haven’t awarded grants in Alaska, Hawaii, or Wyoming—not because they aren’t needed, but simply because we haven’t heard from organizations there yet. If you’re in one of those states (or know a rescue, shelter, clinic, or TNR group there), please tell them about PennyFix. Our goal is simple: we want to be in every state.
2) Some states have a lot of grants, and some only have one.
That difference isn’t about favorites. It’s about where we started, who has found us, and how quickly word travels. Pennsylvania is where PennyFix began, and it’s where our network grew first—so naturally, you’ll see more grant recipients there.
We’re also still earning trust and getting our name out there. Some groups have told us they wondered if PennyFix might be “too good to be true.” We get it—everyone’s cautious these days. Some organizations call to verify us first, and some don’t.
And here’s the funny part: if you ask someone who’s trying to scam you if they’re a scam… they’re probably not going to say, “Yes, absolutely, you caught me.” 😄
So we truly love when organizations do their homework. We’d rather answer questions, prove we’re real, and build relationships that last.

We’re proud of what’s been done so far—but we also know there’s so much more to do.
We also want to be transparent about something: PennyFix is still a small, volunteer-run effort. We’re a group of everyday people with full-time jobs who are doing this because we saw a problem—and we believed there had to be a practical solution.
That means our progress is real, but it’s also human-sized: we can only do so much, so fast. Right now, we’re operating on donations alone, and we’re actively working to get the pet industry to sign on so we can move faster. The bigger our funding base becomes, the more grants we can award, the more communities we can reach, and the sooner we can help organizations on the ground do the work that changes everything.
If you want to help us grow, you can:
Share this post (it helps more organizations and supporters find us)
Connect us with the decision-maker. If you know someone at a pet food company, retailer, distributor, or brand—especially someone who can approve partnerships or CSR/community giving—please introduce us to the right person. And if you are that person (or you’re on that team), email us and let’s connect.
Or support with a donation while we build toward industry adoption
Thank you for being part of the PennyFix story.
Stay tuned for Part 2 next week, where we’ll share the remaining states—plus Washington, DC and Puerto Rico.
